[ Biography] IORFA THEOPHILUS SAMBER

Iorfa Theophilus Samber was born to the family of Late WOII Patrick Samber of Adudu, Obi Local Government of Nassarawa State over 40years ago.

He attended Army Children School, Jimeta Yola where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate. When his father, A Military Officer was posted to Plateau State, he was enrolled into Command Secondary School, Rukuba Contonement, where he started and completed his secondary education.

Young Iorfa was a passionate and addicted lover of Radio and his early love for Radio gave him a sound knowledge of music which his uncle and mentor, Lazarus Samber spotted early, and engaged him to manage his music studio, De Grand Productions, one of the most prominent studios of the 2000s in Benue.

His love for music and the adventure at De Grand Studios brought him close to On Air Personalities like Stevie Ayua, Late Enoch Nyam, Terfa Aker, Joel Iji, Late Rachael Eki, Dorcas Atsea and others. This further strengthened his love and passion for Radio and ensured an easy transition to becoming a presenter on Radio Benue in the Early 2000s when an opportunity beconed.

In 2002, He gained admission to study Geography at the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and even as a science student, he stuck to his first love, Radio. He was appointed, Head of Programmes, ABU/BBC Campus Radio during his first year and would later become President of the Campus Radio in his final year.

Theophilus graduated in 2008 and performed his mandatory NYSC Scheme in Asaba, Delta State where he served as a Town Planning Officer.

After his NYSC, he had a short stint with AIICO Insurance, as Insurance Sales Executive and later as a VIP Customer Care Agent with Bharti Airtel at its Abuja Call Centre.

He resigned from from Airtel in 2010 and had a short spell with ASKING Media as a Music Library Manager while also working as a presenter with Vision FM, Abuja, fanning the flames of his passion.

In the same year, he was hired as Project Manager, Mata Company Nigeria Limited, an environmental consulting firm and was posted to raise a team and start an office in Benue, a role he resigned from in 2013 but continued to practice as a free lance Environmental/Media Consultant. In his engagements as a media consultant, he worked and partnered with several media houses in the country like MTV Base, Hip TV, Afro Pop TV, Arise TV, Channels TV, Soundcity FM, Cool FM, Wazobia FM and those in Benue.

This led to a temporary appointment as an On Air Personality with FRCN’s Harvest FM in Makurdi and Jubilee Radio, Ghana as it’s country correspondent.

He also combined those responsibilities with being an MC, Voice Over Artiste, free lance Environmental Consultant and the project Manager of Spatial Ecosystems Limited, an environmental consortium.

In 2021, Lobi Broadcasting Company, owners of Brothers FM, 90.5 Makurdi hired him as an On Air Personality, a position he currently holds, also as the Head of Presentation of the Radio Station.

He envisioned and championed Earthitude Nigeria Limited, his media and environmental consulting firm which was in 2022 accredited with the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency.

He has and is still consulting for some of the biggest companies in the country and Benue including, Dangote Cement Plants, Dangote Granite Mines, Dangote Coal Mines, Pure Biotech Company Limited, Ashi and Miva Rice, ACSMin Nigeria Limited, Rockbridge Construction Limited, Hajaig Construction Limited, Benue Hotels, Agate Radio, Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Federal Medical Centre, Makurdi and others.

He has undertaken very numerous trainings in the field of journalism/broadcasting as well as environmental sciences.

He is currently running a masters programme in Environmental Standards at World Bank’s Centre for Innovation, Procurement, Environmental and Social Standards, Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi, Benue State.

He is married to Mrs. Joy Iember Samber and are blessed with three lovely children, Sechiviirter, Mfeuter and Terwamikyo.

He is a devout Christian and lover of God who enjoys spending time with music and football.
